Karam Batth recently revealed that boxing legend Kaur Singh is a great fan of Amitabh Bachchan and wants to meet the superstar of Bollywood once again.
Kaur Singh first met Amitabh Bachchan when the latter presented him the gold medal for winning Heavy Weight Boxing Division of 1982 Asian games.
Speaking of how he got to know about this wish of Kaur Singh ji, Karam said, “I met Kaur Singh ji before starting the shoot of out film. I wanted to know more about his personality, his mannerism and his life experiences so as to get under the skin of this character.”
“In the conversation, he told me about his meeting with Big B, how he is a great fan of Mr Bachchan and admires his work from the core of his heart,” said Batth, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming biopic Padma Shri Kaur Singh.
The movie tells the struggle and achievements of the Padma Shri and Arjuna awardee.
In one of his official blogs, Amitabh Bachchan had also written about this beautiful moment. “They asked me to present him the Gold medal…an honour and a great privilege…I sat and cheered him on at the event,” Bachchan wrote at the time of 1982 Asian Games in Delhi.
As for Karam, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to play a legend like Kaur Singh. It took him almost a year of training and constant hardwork to look like the legendary boxer.
While talking about the tough phase, Karam said, “I got 6 major injuries while preparing for the film. It was not at all an easy task”.
The actor also spoke about how he had no video footage and reference material to learn about Kaur Singh’s mannerisms and personality. “I was entirely dependent on the script and my intuitions. There were hardly any recordings that could have helped me.”
The film based on the boxer’s life is slated to release in early 2020.
