“Siren” (2024), starring Jayam Ravi and Keerthy Suresh, aims for a gripping thriller but gets tangled in its own web of subplots. The film centers around an ex-ambulance driver, played by Ravi, who transitions to a life of crime and spends a grueling 14 years behind bars. Upon release, his quest for redemption is overshadowed by a complex web of secrets and lingering consequences.

Siren (2024) – A Thriller

Ravi delivers a sincere performance, but the script struggles to find its footing. An intriguing premise unravels into a convoluted mess. The narrative throws too much at the audience, with subplots that feel unnecessary and ultimately dilute the central story. This complexity makes it difficult to connect with the characters or truly grasp their motivations.

Despite the narrative shortcomings, the film’s technical aspects hold merit. Selvakumar S.K.’s cinematography is commendable, creating a visually engaging experience. The tension is built effectively in certain scenes, but these moments are short-lived and overshadowed by the broader story issues.

“Siren” is a missed opportunity. Jayam Ravi’s earnest performance and the initial intrigue can’t salvage the film from its convoluted plot. If you’re looking for a straightforward thriller, this might leave you feeling frustrated. However, if you enjoy unraveling mysteries and don’t mind a complex narrative, it might be worth a watch, but be prepared for a bumpy ride.
