It’s rare when we get to see some real suspense thrillers in Bollywood. And whensoever it happens, social media ends up revealing the suspense, leaving us ablaze. But today’s filmmakers believe in thinking a step ahead to avoid such disappointments.

Trailer of Ittefaq, a movie starring Sonakshi Sinha and Siddharth Malhotra, turned the audience highly inquisitive about the story and the climax. In order to sustain the curiosity, the filmmakers took a decision regarding the release of the movie.

Ittefaq, which was to be released on Thursday in UAE, was not screened in any of the cinema halls. What’s notable is that, in UAE, every Bollywood movie is released a day prior to its worldwide release, but Ittefaq didn’t. Rather the screening was scheduled for Friday, as it happens everywhere.

Was the decision taken out of the concern regarding the leakage of the movie’s climax on social media platforms? Perhaps!

No spoiler campaign

The speculation seems valid owing to the “No spoiler campaign” that created a buzz in the meanwhile. Well known names of the film industry shared their opinions about the leaking and sharing of the spoilers. While on one hand, Sonakshi along with father took to Instagram to say ‘Khamosh to all the spoilers coming your way’, Shah Rukh on the other posted, “When you give out a spoiler, you become one!” Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, and Sidharth Malhotra were few other names who joined hands to support the campaign and urged the people to go and watch the movie instead of scrolling through the spoilers.

Speaking of the well-thought step taken by the makers of Ittefaq, Subin John renowned technologist says, “Keeping in mind how big the Indian market is, it was a great decision to release the movie on Friday all across. This could prove to be a new trend, especially for the suspense thrillers. Now, it is to be seen if the upcoming movies would trace the same path and release the movie on Friday in every part of the world so that nobody could destroy the suspense on which a movie relies.”
