Legendary singer Kumar Sanu recreates his iconic song ‘Tujhe Mirchi Lagi’ with a new twist with its original duet singer Alka Yagnik in Coolie no. 1 featuring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan, releases today.

Originally composed by Anand-Milind and penned by Sameer, Lijo George- DJ Chetas have added their own punch to the original iconic chartbuster.

Kumar Sanu is still making waves 25 years later with the same song and wishes to woo the palette of the quintessential club hopper and add the zing element in equal measures.

With such a foot-tapping soundtrack, the video required the fun element where Varun & Sara seamlessly fitted the bill with enthusiasm.

It’s a fun tribute to the 90s and the whole recreated version tapped the energies on the camera.

Talking about the reprised version of his symbolic song, Kumar Sanu says,

“I have sung this song 25 year ago and now singing for a remake version makes my heart extremely happy. It became quite popular then & ruled every heart of the 90s generation. Seeing the same effect on today’s audience for the remix version, it honestly makes my heart full. I sincerely hope this will catch a lot of eyeballs and become a staple everywhere and in the hearts of every youth of this generation.”

“I sang the remix version along with Alka and it definitely reminded me of the time when we first sang for the original song. We have had an amazing chemistry and our duets used to create magic for the audience. Our bond is unbreakable and we had sung a lot of amazing songs in the 90s which became quite popular later. The whole experience feels surreal and now it’s time to create new magic for today’s generation with Lilo George & Dj Chetas’s foot tapping beats to this iconic chartbuster and revamped it for the young audience to get them to shake their legs”, adds Kumar Sanu ji while talking about working with Alka Yagnik.

Coolie No. 1 will see Varun in place of Govinda and Sara in the place of Karisma Kapoor. Helmed by David Dhawan and produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh.

Coolie No 1 is a remake of his own 1995 film of the same name. It will premiere on Christmas, December 25th on Amazon Prime Video.
