15 Years of Agnee: India’s homegrown rock band celebrates landmark
Agnee

Is set to celebrate its legacy by officially releasing all its songs since its inception, on its YouTube channel and on all OTT platforms worldwide

Mumbai, May 14, 2022: They started off in a very different India, and now, a decade and a half later, the rock band Agnee is set to celebrate its exhilarating journey. It was on May 15, 2007 when Agnee’s debut album was launched. Its lead singer was a senior banker by the name of Mohan Kannan, and he had as a co-founder and lead guitarist Kaustubh Dhavale, aka Koco.

Today, as they stand on the cusp of the 15-year landmark, the band is set to celebrate itself by announcing a brand new song ‘Kya Main Kya Tu’ penned by lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya. And in what will be a hearty windfall for their loyal fans, old and new, the band has planned to release all their songs from the past 15 years on their YouTube channel and on all OTT platforms worldwide.

Kya Mai Kya Tu

For a homegrown band that saw the Indian music industry flourish into what it is now and witnessed upheavals such as the influx of digital piracy, COVID-19 and more, the 15-year landmark is special. “It’s a big day for us – we have grown manifold since our first album dropped. We’re extremely fortunate that our listeners are so invested in our music through the years that Agnee belongs as much to our fans as it does to us. We want to simply celebrate on the day with all our listeners and make it a little more special with the release of our new song, “Kya Mai Kya Tu”. It’s the quintessential Agnee sound with the added magic of Amitabh Bhattacharya’s lyrics. We hope it gets as much love from everyone as our other songs have.” shares Mohan Kannan.

“It’s a hugely emotional moment for us. I’m lucky to be one of the few artistes who get to live their dreams, flourish and be an integral part of India’s music journey. I’m even happier that we’re celebrating in my favourite way: being on stage and performing in front of people who love our music. “Kya Mai Kya Tu” is just the first of many new songs to come out this year, and Mohan and I are running between shows, recordings and video shoots… all in all, this is just the beginning of a mad period for us and we’re super excited!” Koco adds.

Besides Koco and Mohan, the heart and soul of Agnee are Hrishikesh on drums, Varun on percussions and Chirayu on bass.

It’s a packed day on May the 15th, as Agnee is also slated to perform LIVE at Mumbai’s Anti-Social.
