Out of these, only the top 3 shortlisted films will get a theatrical screening in LA and will be eligible for Oscar Qualification. The Best of India Short Film Festival was established by ShortsTV to honor and recognize the exceptional work of Indian filmmakers. The festival aims to give Indian filmmakers a platform to showcase their work on a global stage and compete at the prestigious Oscars. Viewers can now watch the top 5 short films of the Best of India Short Film Festival on both linear and OTT platforms of ShortsTV from 3rd October. Zibah

Synopsis: Based in a small village in Kutch, India; 10-year-old Mukti wishes to swim in the newly filled lake, after a drought spanning for years. A seemingly simple wish turns to an unexpected discovery about himself, which causes him to question himself, the stigma around it, and his wish to swim in the lake.

Almariyaan

Synopsis: Almariyaan is a journey of a middle – class Indian couple who work on learning and accepting their son’s sexuality and help make a comfortable ground for him to come out of “the closet”, but when the actual truth comes out, they can’t come to terms with it. A perfect satire to bring out the importance and acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community in India in the current times, the film is a fun ride that leaves you with thinking about much more than it projects.
